It is with great pleasure we are delighted to bring a fresh new batch of artworks across the river to Lancaster and to one of our favourite places The Cornerstone Cafe! If you are yet to discover this place make sure you do soon. Consistently good service and food, and always a friendly welcome, you will be sure to make it your regular go to for all things yummy from coffee and freshly baked cakes, homemade soups, haloumi and garlic mushroom ciabatta's and the best homemade coleslaw in town. Plenty to enjoy whilst checking out a fresh selection of local made artwork from our ever-growing creative community in Morecambe's West End.
This exhibition brings artwork by Christopher Hargreaves and Magenta Monocle whose regular contribution to The Exchange has been invaluable. These artworks exhibited were created specifically for January's Second Saturday which saw local artist Shane Johnstone facilitate a mosaic workshop creating 36 30x30 virtuous glass mosaic tiles soon to be installed amongst our West End streets. Chris and Magenta ran with this mosaic/pixel theme and created these wonderful works exhibited here. Prints already sold in store and Magenta coming up with more and more of these reclaimed, industrial, urban cross stitch creations. Both local artists regularly explore a range of mediums and styles, but here’s a snippet of what they have to offer.
Alongside this we are bringing you a selection of mini canvases from our recent exhibition and community project, which showcased over 100 mini works, each exhibited anonymously and available to buy at £10 each, some by professional artists to our youngest participant just 7 years old.
